The research aimed to trace the historical evolution of World Cup television broadcasting rights, highlighting their significance as crucial revenue streams for FIFA, national teams, and the broader football economy. From the inaugural broadcast of select matches during the 1954 World Cup in Switzerlandm, to the recent World Cup in Qatar 2022, the journey spans three distinct phases delineated by revenue milestones. Over time, these rights have evolved significantly, with current figures surpassing $3.5 billion. This substantial sum underscores the pivotal role these revenues play for FIFA and the participating national teams, undoubtedly facilitating both the growth of the sport and the development of the teams themselves.
