Post-retirement income changes and its impact on the social and health needs of a sample retiree: A field study in Laghouat
Keywords:
Income, Retirement, Social and Health NeedsAbstract
The study aimed to examine the impact of income changes after retirement on the social and health needs of a sample of retirees in Laghouat. A simple random sample of 100 retirees (both male and female) was selected. Following the descriptive method, the study relied on a questionnaire prepared by the researcher to determine the level of needs of the retirees in the study sample. The main findings are as follows: There is an inverse correlation between income changes after retirement and social and health needs. There are differences attributed to the variable of marital status (married vs. unmarried), favoring unmarried retirees. There are differences between the averages of the three economic level groups of retirees (good, average, low) in social and health needs, favoring retirees with a good economic level.
