A Bibliometric Study of Ph.D Theses Awarded In the Department of Education Punjab University, Chandigarh During The Period 2014-2018
Abstract
The paper presents citation analysis of PhD theses submitted in the discipline of Education of the Punjab University Chandigarh during 2014-2018. The study is based on the 11985 citations taken out from 64 PhD theses of Education. The study presents analysis of several parameters like authorship pattern, forms of literature, country-wise scattering of citations, distribution of Indian and foreign citations and a ranked list of top 35 cited Education journals. The study finds that highest number of citations was single authored (50.01 %), and 47.29 % citations were from books. “University News” is found to be the most heavily used journal. The half-life of all citations is almost 20.02 years. The country-wise scattering of citations reveals that 6259 (50.20%) citations were from India and it was followed by USA and UK.
